Take a breath, take a walk, do something, anything else except immediately react to whatever has upset you. When we're angry our perspective is cloudy, and our emotions are controlling us, and this can lead to poor decision making and regrettable actions. We need to practice taking a moment to gather ourselves so that we can see a situation through more reasonable and rational eyes. Once we've cooled off we're much more capable of finding a solution to our problems or more clearly communicating why we're upset. Getting to this point allows us to get more of what we want because our approach is more likely to come from a place of love and understanding as opposed to conflict. When we seek to engage in conversation as opposed to conflict it leaves us open to working with people to find a solution as opposed to against them. Get in the habit of asking yourself, "what is it about this situation that's upsetting me and why"? Just the few minutes it takes to answer those questions and work through the answers can save you a lifetime of anger and frustration. I know, this is definitely one of those "easier said than done" practices, but that's why it's called a practice. We ALL lose our temper from time to time, how we handle and manage it is what really makes a difference in how those around us experience it. You control you.
